Best Time to Visit

May to October is ideal. April-May for spring blossoms, July-September for pleasant weather, October for autumn colors. Ratti Gali accessible July-August.

Transport Tips

Neelum Valley road is good but narrow. Local jeeps available for hire. For Arang Kel, chairlift operates in summer. For Ratti Gali, hire a guide.

Food Recommendations

Try Kashmiri Kehwa (pink tea), Rogan Josh, and local trout. Wazwan is a must-try traditional feast. Fresh apples in autumn.

Trekking

For Ratti Gali, hire local guides. Carry proper trekking gear. Acclimatize properly. Best time July-August when snow melts.

Photography

Best spots: Pir Chinasi for sunrise, Arang Kel for valley views, Ratti Gali for alpine scenery, Keran for river shots.

Weather Preparation

Evenings are cool even in summer. Pack warm clothes. At Ratti Gali (3,700m), temperatures drop significantly. Rain common, carry waterproof gear.

Permits

No special permits for Azad Kashmir. For Neelum Valley near LOC areas, carry CNIC. Foreign nationals may need permit for certain areas.

Camping

Ratti Gali and Arang Kel offer excellent camping. Bring your own gear or rent locally. Permissions may be required. Camp only in designated areas.

Shopping

Kashmiri handicrafts, Pashmina shawls, walnut woodwork, and honey are famous. Available in Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot markets.
